Fall 1994: Age 45 – I met the young Dr. Chad Martin through my business partner. I was 3 weeks away from being scheduled for a hysterectomy. I accompanied my business partner into the Rochester Chiropractic Center. I mentioned to Dr. Chad that I was scheduled to have a hysterectomy in three weeks. He suggested that I get a chiropractic adjustment and that it wouldn’t hurt to see what 3 weeks of adjustments could do. The reason for my hysterectomy: a typical monthly cycle was 21 days of no flow – 7 days flow. My cycle was 7 days no flow – 21 days heavy flow. Within 2 weeks of having multiple adjustments per week – I noticed a huge difference in how I was feeling. I cancelled the surgery – my Gynecologist was not pleased. Within 6 weeks, I was in a normal cycle. Dr. Chad saved me from the ‘knife’ and who knows what kind of drugs as well!
4 years later, I went through the dreaded ‘change of life’ – it took me 3 months to realize I had stopped having normal cycles. Very few hot flashes – no night sweats – the whole 9 yards – it was easy. Dr. Chad is my hero! Not to mention my husband was happy about that smooth change of life too – I wasn’t moody and irritable!

“The pain in my body began about 1 ½ years ago. I felt severe pain that started in my lower back and flared down to my toes. I experienced numbness and weakness in my legs. Walking was unbearable and at times impossible. I went to my physician on several different occasions. At each visit I received an exam, no diagnoses, and a prescription for vicoden, naproxen, and flexaril. After 6 months of no change my Doctor referred me to a physical therapist. The therapy seemed to work and the pain in my body subsided. I was able to walk, exercise, and enjoy life again. Unfortunately the pain returned a few months later, worse than before. I made yet another visit to my Doctor, this time she sent me for x-rays and suggested physical therapy again, or try going to a chiropractor. Well, going to a chiropractor was too scary to consider so I headed out of her office with more medication and another referral to physical therapy. Needless to say me second therapy experience was unsuccessful. Lying on my back to complete the exercises was impossible due to the pain. However I didn’t have time to worry, I was moving to Washington. Within days of my move my back hurt so bad that I could hardly walk, sit or lay down. One day while looking through a community magazine that I came across, I saw a letter addressed to ‘pain sufferers,’ written by Dr. Chad Martin. Upon reading this letter I knew instantly that I needed to contact Rochester Chiropractic Center to receive care. I had never been to a chiropractor before, so I was scared going to my evaluation exam. My fears were quickly quieted upon meeting Dr. Martin. He was kind, he explained how chiropractic care works and said he wouldn’t do any procedure without first explaining it to me.
I have been a patient at Rochester Chiropractic since November 1st, 2006, the treatment and care that I have received has been wonderful. I am walking without a cane and upright. I am in far less pain then 4 months ago. I have a special relationship with Dr. Martin. I would not only suggest chiropractic care for my friends and family, I would require them to come in for treatment. Everyone at Rochester Chiropractic makes me and my whole family, feel welcome and loved.”
I began receiving chiropractic care in August 1999. I had always said I’d have to be unconscious to be in a chiropractic office. I had a completely unsubstantiated fear of pain. I had severe pain in my shoulder, sciatica and blocked Eustachian tubes that caused me to “hear” water all the time. The pain in my shoulder was recent but my other ailments had affected me for over a year and a half. I will be the first to admit my skepticism. The promises and offerings of Dr. Martin had to come at a steep price I was sure. My husband and three children were included for next to nothing. The only steep price I paid was the sacrificing of a very painful way of life.
After suffering from pain in my heels for over two years I finally asked Dr. Martin if they could help with that. I had already seen my MD and a podiatrist. The podiatrist said I had bone spurs even though an X-Ray showed no evidence of that. He then prescribed special in soles and ibuprofen every four hours until I was no longer in pain. After about a two minute procedure Dr. Martin was able to alleviate two years of very painful walking.
My children have really enjoyed this experience as well; especially my 23 month old daughter. From the time she was 3 months old, she has been on antibiotics at least every 6-8 weeks. She had chronic and painful sinus pressure and ear infections so often she became immune to amoxicillin. After about 4 months of chiropractic care she was infection free for nearly a year.
The doctors are all very caring, knowledgeable and supportive. The office staff is always friendly, upbeat and just fun to be around. My parents, nephew, sister and niece have also begun receiving chiropractic care. They are all experiencing undeniable proof that “chiropractic care works”!!!!! Oh, by the way the phrase “no pain, no gain”, is not spoken here! J
Dear Dr. Martin,
I just want to thank both of you for saving my life! It was my lucky day when you stopped me at the fair. Your treatments have taken away my arthritis pain, given me more energy and helped me to handle the stresses in my life.
My only regret is not knowing before how and why chiropractic care works. I spent such a miserable summer in pain and on medicine, all for nothing. Well, all that is in the past so now on to the future. I hope and pray we have a good long-term relationship.
I thank God every day for getting us together. You both have a very caring attitude towards your patients and it is greatly appreciated. You have a very caring, friendly and courteous staff. No matter when I call they say “come right in” even if I mess up your schedules.
Now if the insurance company would wise up and pay more I’d really be a happy camper. Please accept this extra money because I feel you have earned it. I don’t expect you to work for nothing.
My sincere thanks,
“My goal is to improve my health without medications. I didn’t want me life dependent on expensive meds and all their side effects.
Let me back up… I recently retired from many years of working on a dairy farm. It was long days filled with hard work and stress. My wife and I bought 20 acres in Rochester, near Swede Hall. We have several fields and 4 acres in forest. I like to raise cattle and cut firewood. We had made a decision to be as self-sufficient as possible. We have a big garden, which I like to do, and raise about 70% of our food.
Then this last November, I started having back, neck, and head pain. It was so bad that I couldn’t move, turn, stop, or reach. I saw all my desires and hobbies quickly impossible for me to do. I went to my medical doctor, who gave me muscle relaxants for bed time. No tractor or driving. Then a neuro-surgeon and a neurologist. I saw no end in sight and I wasn’t getting better.
Then I came to the chiropractic clinic. Dr. Martin couldn’t even lay me on the table the first visit! After 5 treatments, I was better. The next weekend, I cut firewood. This has been so helpful. I now know that I will be able to do the things I enjoy.”
Thank you- All of you have been a wonderful staff.
“I have had hip and lower back pain, off and on for years. A couple of years ago, my arms and hands started to have pain and numbness mostly at night. (Waking up to 3 to 5 times.) I have tried muscle relaxers, pain pills, shots in my back, anti-inflammatory medications, and acupuncture… none of these gave me much relief.
My doctor thought that maybe I had carpal tunnel and suggested L&I. I work in construction and things started getting harder to do. I asked my doctor if I could be referred to a chiropractor to see if I had a pinched nerve somewhere. Since I’ve been coming to Rochester Chiropractic Center for adjustments, I am sleeping much better, I feel more flexible, and my handwriting is back to the way it use to be!
I have also brought my husband and 2 daughters in for adjustments. The staff is friendly, courteous, and very efficient. This is a VERY pleasant experience!”
“I would like to start by saying that for 22 years, I have been searching for an answer, a cure for my neck tremors (side to side shaking), as if I’m shaking my head “no”. I went to a doctor who told me that the only thing to stop my neck shaking was surgery. Also, to deal with it until I turn 55 years old, then come back for surgery. I decided that that was not the answer.
Another doctor told me I had Beninessential tremors, his answer was a prescription of pills that were so strong they ended up making me sick, and I felt like a zombie. I threw the pills away, and as fate would have it, I was going to change my way of thinking about doctors and pills.
I hurt my lower back at work recently, in March 2008. I went to the hospital where they gave me 2 shots for the pain and prescribed 2 different pain killers. The shots made me sick to my stomach and I didn’t want a pill every time that I felt pain. I asked my wife to search for a good chiropractor. She found one very close to home for emergency convenience. At first I was just asking to see if they could adjust me enough to go back to work.
Not only did they help me with the pain in my lower back, so that I could stand up straight. The x-rays showed that my neck needed A LOT of work as well. After a few weeks of treatments, my neck tremors stopped shaking for the first time in over 20 years! For the first time in a very long time, I could smile ear to ear when I look in the mirror, because I feel so much better don’t have the embarrassment of people thinking I’m shaking my head “no” about something, or talking about me behind my back thinking that I have M.S. or that I have Parkinson’s Disease or that I just look weird.
To have 20 years of pain and embarrassment lifted off my shoulders, how do you thank someone for that?! I guess you start by writing this letter, and let people know how chiropractic care can change their life too. Or they could take a pill, live with the pain, side effects and health problems and try to mask or cover it up as long as they can…”
“I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about a year ago. I had awful muscle spasms and twitches and very bad neck and back pain, swelling in my joints, numbness in my fingers, arms and feet, digestion problems and trouble sleeping. I was prescribed Soma Flexidril, Robaxin, Vicodin, Toradol, Zanax, Amnitriptolin, Nortriptolin, Trazedon and a few other ones I can’t remember. Still it never really helped and I thought I would never live a day without pain again. I went to neurologists and arthritis specialists. I had an MRI of my brain done, but no one could help me.
Since I started coming here in July 2007 all my symptoms have been reduced and sometimes not even there at all. I do not take any of the above medication anymore. I am able to function without being in pain all the time and it’s always getting better.
I am very thankful for everyone here that has helped me so much. I thank my *lucky stars*!”
“Before I started chiropractic care, I had several health problems, besides a bad back. I have suffered for most of my life with allergies, asthma, migraines, A.D.D. and depression. I have had these problems for about 15 years. My asthma and allergies always affected my sports, my migraines were would get so intense that I couldn’t lift my head off of my pillow, and my A.D.D. and depression got so bad that I couldn’t function in everyday life.
I use to see my primary doctor 2-3 times amonth or more. The basic options I was given is to take medication. Within 6 months this is what I was on:
Asthma and allergies- Azmacort, Albuterol, Beconase, Benadryl
Depression- Serzone, Amitriptyline
Most of these are stimulants and were used 2-4 times a day. I had gotten to the point that I couldn’t sleep!
I started chiropractic care just over one year ago, due to falling off my horse. I was given a brochure on chiropractic and what it does. I decided to try it for optimum health; I was tired of feeling the way that I did, so I gave it a chance.
My migraines are completely gone! It feels great to get just a headache, and I know that all I need to do is get an adjustment and it will go away. I haven’t had to use my asthma or allergy medications for over 7 months. My primary doctor has continued to check my lungs and they are clear. I have been able to return to sports. I am down to one depression medication at a reduced does and am still taking my A.D.D. medication. Down to 2 medications, not bad! My long term goal is to be off ALL of it! I haven’t been this mentally healthy in 15 years, it is great to have my life back. My health as improved 100%
The Rochester Chiropractic Center is great! They have a great staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. They care about your over-all health, and will help you achieve it. If you have any questions, they take the time to listen to you. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, they take little steps so that your body can mend itself. I recommend chiropractic care, but remember… my changes didn’t happen overnight! They will remind you to be patient, but it is all worth it. Your health is worth it, so give it a try! What do you have to lose?” – Anonymous
